Private shoreline. No intervening public shore path.
Oceansedge is one of comparatively few homes located within a 100-acre oceanfront peninsula, on a strictly private road (Lookout Point Road), comprising a private enclave.
That enclave comprises Bar Harbor's most prestigious residential community, and one of the nation's most historic neighborhoods.
The house itself is located yet another 1,000' even from Lookout Point Road, at the end of a descending chain of ponds frequented by nearly tame wildlife.
The property is just 1 mile from Acadia National Park's "Reception Center", the gateway to the legendary 30,000-acre Park.
The Park offers 50 miles of car-free "carriage roads" (safe and visually magnificent bicycling and hiking).
Guests will be able to bicycle from the house directly to the Reception Center and on to Main Street, taking in along the way Bar Harbor’s best oceanfront restaurants and bars.
Past guests frequently return to Hulls Cove for this reason: kayaking.
Right from the backyard of the property. (No dangerous and unmanageable cliffs descending to the surging currents seen farther down Bar Harbor's shoreline).
Boats are delivered to the guests on the day of their arrival. (Acadia Bike and Coastal Kayaking)
Granite steps descend from the backyard to a deck on the beach. Lights in the overhanging oak trees illuminate the deck, the steps, and the ocean itself for a hundred yards from the shore.
As the endorsements of past guests attest, their chief joy at Hulls Cove usually consists of interacting with the virtually tame deer and other wildlife which come to that uniquely sequestered location within Bar Harbor.
Children in particular seem to enjoy feeding the ducklings and the most amiable residents, the pet chipmunks.
A motion detector causes blue and green lights in a tree in the oceanfront backyard to illuminate families of deer when they come in the evening.
Various concierge services are available.
Some services: housekeeping, guidance in leasing equipment (kayaks, bicycles, etc.), cosmetology, arraning for portrait photography, chartering boats, joining expeditions of the nearby College of the Atlantic (e.g., observing whales and seals)
Most popular: catered lobster dinners.
For more than 20 years, Oceansedge has been serving discriminating families from throughout the US and abroad.
